Activity

Seeded the following indoors and out.

The germination temperature for all of the above is between 65 and 75 deg. Air temperature is between 40 and 80. Ground temperature at 2" is between 50 and 60 deg. I'll use the plants started indoors to fill the gaps in those that don't' germinate outdoors. Some like Oenothera and Linum resent transplanting, so I'm not sure if they are worth the trouble of trying to start indoors.

Winter Sewing

Sewed Callirhoe involucrata "Wine Cup", Callirhoe leiocarpa "Tall Poppy Mallow", and Phacelia tanacetifolia, "Purple Tansy". I put them mostly in the white Iris bed in the new layer of grit, some around the winter honeysuckle on the verge on Wayne St., some in the rock garden, and some along the back border. All of these like dry conditions and I'm hoping the granite dust I put out last week will help the seeds germinate.
